Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Denmark international Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP, the Spanish club announced on Saturday morning.
Hjulmand, who earned 27 senior caps for Denmark, has agreed a five-year contract running through the summer of 2031. The midfielder departs Lisbon after making 141 appearances for Sporting CP, where he established himself as a key figure in the Portuguese side's midfield before attracting interest from La Liga.
The deal marks a significant step up in competition for the Danish captain, who now moves to one of Spain's traditional powerhouses as Atletico look to reinforce their squad ahead of the new campaign.
