Real Madrid officially presented José Mourinho in a private ceremony at their Valdebebas training centre on Tuesday, excluding press and supporters, after the club announced his return earlier this summer.

Mourinho, 63, signed a contract running until June 2029, marking his first managerial role since an incomplete season at Benfica, where he arrived in September 2025 and guided the club to an undefeated but third-place league finish. Speaking at the presentation, Mourinho said the return felt like "coming home" and was emotionally stronger than his first arrival. He is scheduled to appear on El Chiringuito with Josep Pedrerol on Tuesday night.

The squad Mourinho inherits remains depleted, with key first-team players including Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé still competing at the World Cup. Real Madrid open their La Liga campaign against Espanyol in Barcelona on Saturday.
