Melnikova wins vault gold as Germany claims two titles at European gymnastics championships

Angelina Melnikova won vault gold at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Zagreb, edging defending champion Karina Schönmaier by 0.1 points with a two-vault average of 14.166. Belgium's Lisa Vaelen took bronze. Melnikova, competing under a neutral flag, added the vault title two days after winning the all-around crown and months after returning to world championship competition in Jakarta.

Germany enjoyed a strong championships as 18-year-old Helen Kevric claimed uneven bars gold with 14.500 points, becoming the first German to win the event since 2022. The victory marked a comeback roughly 15 months after a severe knee injury sustained at last year's home championships in Leipzig.

France's 16-year-old Elena Colas won beam gold with 13.933 points, adding to her all-around bronze, while Austria's Charlize Mörz placed sixth in the vault final. The championships conclude Sunday with the team event.
