Germany's men's 4x200 metres freestyle relay team claimed bronze at the European Swimming Championships in Paris, with Lukas Märtens, Timo Sorgius, Jarno Bäschnitt and Cornelius Jahn setting a national record of 7:02.28. Britain took gold in 7:01.52 and France silver in 7:02.23.
The German women's 4x200m freestyle relay of Maya Tobehn, Linda Roth, Nina Holt and Nicole Maier missed bronze by one hundredth of a second, finishing fourth in a national record of 7:49.14. Russia edged them for bronze in 7:49.13, while Britain won gold and Hungary silver.
In individual events, Isabel Gose qualified second from the heats for the 800m freestyle final, and Luca Nik Armbruster lowered his own national record in the 50m butterfly semifinal to 22.71 seconds.
