Florian Wellbrock anchored Germany to victory in the 4x1.5km mixed open water relay at the European Swimming Championships in Paris, securing his third gold of the competition and a fourth title for the German squad in the Seine.

The German quartet of Julia Ackermann, Isabel Gose, Oliver Klemet and Wellbrock finished ahead of Italy and Hungary. Gose erased a 35-second deficit to take the lead during the second leg, while Klemet handed off to Wellbrock with an 8.15-second advantage over Hungary. The medal brought Germany's open water tally to four golds and one bronze at the championships.

In the 3km knock-out sprint, Hungary's David Betlehem won gold in 6 minutes 12.9 seconds, with France's Marc-Antoine Olivier and Logan Fontaine claiming silver and bronze despite nursing injuries. Wellbrock, who had already triumphed in the 10km and 5km events, placed seventh in the sprint and heads next to the Pan Pacifics in Long Beach.
