Zeidler claims fourth European rowing single sculls title with record time in Varese

Oliver Zeidler won his fourth European single sculls title at the Rowing European Championships in Varese, Italy, setting a championship record of 6:36.39 in a final delayed an hour by a thunderstorm. The German rower beat defending champion Yauheni Zalaty of Belarus by 3.55 seconds and Greece's Stefanos Ntouskos by 4.58 seconds, adding to his previous titles from 2019, 2021, and 2024.

Germany's men's eight took silver behind Romania, with Frederik Breuer newly installed in the stroke seat, while Italy claimed bronze. The German men's quadruple sculls crew won gold ahead of Poland and Croatia, and Germany also collected gold in two para rowing events. Fabio Kress earned silver in the lightweight single sculls.

Austria's Konrad Hultsch narrowly missed bronze in the lightweight single sculls, finishing half a second behind the third-place Ukrainian. Britain and the Netherlands did not compete at the championships. The Rowing World Championships take place in Amsterdam from Aug. 24–30.
