Russia's Ilya Borodin won gold in the 400m individual medley at the European Swimming Championships in Paris with a championship-record time of 4:08.17. Italy's Alberto Razzetti claimed silver in 4:10.40, while Britain's Max Litchfield took bronze.
Italy posted strong showings across multiple events. Simona Quadarella topped the 800m freestyle heats in 8:23.17 to advance to the final, and Thomas Ceccon qualified fourth for the 50m butterfly final in 22.71. Sara Curtis clocked 53.76 in the 100m freestyle to reach the semifinals.
The Netherlands also featured prominently. Marrit Steenbergen set the fastest-ever European Championship time in the 100m freestyle at 52.44 to reach the final. Dutch swimmer Milou van Wijk qualified second behind Curtis in 53.23, while Caspar Corbeau advanced to the 100m breaststroke final in 59.24.
