Manchester United will not pursue a £100m signing this summer due to financial constraints, as manager Michael Carrick prepares his first full Premier League campaign at Old Trafford.
The club has invested roughly £83m on Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, alongside the free signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow, while missing out on targets including Elliot Anderson and Matheus Fernandes. United's outlay remains below that of newly promoted Ipswich and Coventry, and the club has never exceeded the £89.5m paid for Paul Pogba in 2016 on a single player.
Marcus Rashford, whose final two contract years are worth £35m, rejoined the squad at their County Kildare training camp after Barcelona declined their option to buy the forward. Carrick stated Rashford "is our player" and is likely to feature against AC Milan in Wroclaw on Saturday. United open their Premier League season at Hull on August 22.
