Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wrexham in their opening pre-season fixture at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki on Friday, marking Michael Carrick's first game as permanent head coach.
Sam Smith scored the only goal of the match six minutes before half-time, finishing from a Lewis O'Brien cross to give Wrexham the lead. Carrick changed every player at the interval with his side trailing, but the substitutes could not find an equaliser.
The match also saw Andrey Santos make his Manchester United debut following his transfer from Chelsea. United's pre-season schedule continues against Rosenborg in Trondheim on 24 July.
