FSV Mainz 05 have signed Austrian defender Stefan Posch on a permanent contract from Italian Serie A club Como 1907, the Bundesliga side announced on Tuesday.
Posch, 29, spent the second half of last season on loan at Mainz, making 20 appearances for the club before the deal was made permanent. The transfer fee was reported at around four million euros, though both clubs agreed to keep the financial terms confidential.
Posch was a regular starter for Austria at the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada earlier this year. Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert said the defender "integrated extremely quickly and made us better right away," adding that the club was pleased Posch wanted to stay.
