Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Håskjold Nyland has returned to RB Leipzig on a two-year contract running through 2028, the German club confirmed. The 35-year-old arrives on a free transfer after his Sevilla contract expired during the recent World Cup and will wear the number one shirt.
Nyland, who made just two Bundesliga appearances during his previous stint at Leipzig in the 2022–23 season before moving to Spain, is expected to step into a prominent role following the departure of long-serving first-choice goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi to Villarreal after eleven years at the club.
The move comes after Nyland helped Norway reach the World Cup quarter-finals, highlighted by a decisive penalty save in a 2–1 round-of-16 victory over Brazil. Leipzig, who finished third in last season's Bundesliga, are preparing for Champions League football this autumn.
