Irish police renew appeal 17 years after murder of Paul Byrne

· Society IRL

Irish police have launched a fresh appeal for information into the murder of Paul Byrne, 17 years after the 20-year-old vanished from a housing estate in Tallaght, Dublin. Byrne was last seen on 15 July 2009 leaving Kilmartin Green in a wine-coloured Mitsubishi Carisma with several other men.

His remains were discovered by a forestry worker in a wooded area near Blessington, County Wicklow, on 29 July 2010, more than a year after his disappearance. Five people have been arrested in connection with the investigation, but no one has been brought to justice.

Gardaí at Blessington station are leading the renewed appeal, urging anyone with information about the 2000-registered vehicle or Byrne's final movements to come forward.
