Irish police have launched an investigation after the body of a woman in her 40s was discovered with serious head injuries in a bedroom at her home on Muckross Road in Killarney, Co Kerry, on Tuesday.
A relative found the woman at around lunchtime, according to reports detailing the discovery. An Garda Síochána believe she died as a result of force being used and have appointed a senior investigating officer to lead the case. A senior officer will oversee the probe, with an incident room established at Killarney Garda Station. The scene has been preserved for technical examination, and the State Pathologist has been notified ahead of a post-mortem examination at University Hospital Kerry.
The woman is understood to have moved to Killarney from the United States around five years ago. Police have appealed for anyone with camera footage from the Muckross Road area between the evening of 6 July and the afternoon of 7 July to come forward.
