Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha reclaims half marathon world record in Buenos Aires

Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha reclaimed the men's half marathon world record on Sunday, running 56 minutes 51 seconds at a World Athletics road race in Buenos Aires. The 29-year-old shaved 29 seconds off the previous mark of 57:20 set by Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo in Lisbon in March, which had itself surpassed Kejelcha's earlier record of 57:30 set in Valencia in October 2024. Kejelcha, who also holds the men's 10,000m road race world record, finished second behind Kenya's Sabastian Sawe at the London Marathon earlier this year.

In para-equestrian competition, Denmark's Tobias Thorning won silver in freestyle at the World Championships in Aachen on Zackorado with a score of 79.940%, while Rixt van der Horst took gold at 83.120%. The Danish para-dressage team secured qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, though the Danish showjumping squad finished ninth and missed the top-eight cutoff for Olympic berths.

In Formula 1, Kimi Antonelli leads the championship standings with 224 points, while George Russell, third with 168 points, won Saturday's sprint race at Zandvoort.
