Danish tennis player Holger Rune has dismissed suggestions he withdrew from the US Open, saying he still hopes to compete when the tournament begins on 30 August in New York. The world number 99, who tore his Achilles tendon in the Stockholm Open semifinal last autumn, has been sidelined for 10 months but recently trained with Lorenzo Musetti, Flavio Cobolli and Alexander Müller. Rune, who confirmed on X that he has not pulled out, can rely on a protected ranking for entry.
Should the US Open prove too soon, Rune is targeting a return at the Davis Cup tie against Bulgaria, scheduled for 18–19 September in Hillerød, Denmark. He floated the September timeline on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast.
