· Society GBR

The body of Michael Henry, a 19-year-old who went missing after his kayak capsized off the Northumberland coast, has been recovered from the North Sea and formally identified, authorities said.

Henry disappeared on 7 July when the kayak he was paddling with a companion overturned near Boulmer. The second man on the vessel survived by swimming to a buoy before coastguard crews pulled him from the water. Search operations were called off on 15 July, at which point Henry was presumed dead and his family issued a public statement.

Henry's body was located in the water off the coast of Blyth on 26 July. Formal identification has since been carried out and a report prepared for the coroner.
