A body discovered in early May on the beach at Stubbenfelde on the German island of Usedom has been identified as a 90-year-old Polish national who had been missing since late December 2025, authorities confirmed.

The man was reported missing on 28 December 2025 after he fell overboard from a ferry travelling between Ystad, Sweden, and the Polish port of Świnoujście, approximately 30 kilometres off the coast of Rügen. His body washed ashore on the German side of Usedom several months later.

Polish media reported the deceased as 94 years old, while German outlets listed his age as 90. The discrepancy has not been publicly addressed by officials.
