World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Masters because of a right knee injury, tournament organisers announced on their official channels.
The Italian underwent medical examinations at facilities in Turin and Milan in recent days after experiencing discomfort in his right knee. His departure for the United States, initially scheduled for Saturday, was postponed following an evaluation at the J Medical centre in Turin. Sinner also skipped the Montreal Masters 1000 event.
The Cincinnati tournament, played on hard courts from Aug. 13 to 23, is one Sinner won in 2024. His focus now turns to the US Open, which begins Aug. 30, where he aims to return in time and continue his campaign at the top of the ATP rankings.
