Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have withdrawn from the National Bank Open, the Masters 1000 event in Montreal running August 2–13, organisers announced on X. Sinner cited a priority on his health and chose to extend his break following his Wimbledon title. The world number one will miss the Canadian Masters 1000 for a second consecutive year, ending a streak of six successive Masters 1000 victories.
The field will be led by Alexander Zverev, ranked third, and Félix Auger-Aliassime, ranked fourth, with Auger-Aliassime appearing at the tournament for a ninth time. Italy retains a sizeable contingent of seven players, including Lorenzo Musetti and Matteo Berrettini.
The withdrawals leave the Montreal draw without two of the sport's biggest names as the hard-court season builds toward the US Open.
