The 161.3-kilometre stage was the fastest in Tour history, with riders averaging 50.91 kph, surpassing the previous record of 50.36 kph set in 1999. Wærenskjold, who had three fingers bandaged during the ride, delivered Uno-X's second-ever Tour stage win after Jonas Abrahamsen's triumph in 2025.
In the points classification, Mads Pedersen leads the green jersey contest with 293 points, ahead of Biniam Girmay on 239 and Tim Merlier on 213. No Danish rider has ever won the Tour's points competition, and with sprinter-friendly stages on Wednesday and Thursday offering 70 points each, Pedersen is working to extend his advantage.
Tadej Pogačar retains overall race leadership, holding the yellow jersey with a 3:36 advantage over Jonas Vingegaard. Thursday's 179.1-km stage runs from Magny-Cours to Chalon-sur-Saône.
