Gerry Kelly, the Ballymena-born broadcaster whose career spanned more than three decades across Northern Irish television and radio, died at his home on Sunday aged 77.
Kelly was best known for hosting a weekly talk show on UTV from 1989 to 2005, establishing himself as a fixture of regional broadcasting. He later moved to radio, presenting a weekly programme on BBC Radio Ulster from April 2009 and subsequently a Friday afternoon show from January 2014 until October 2019. In 2022, he returned to television for eight episodes of 'Tonight with Gerry Kelly' on NVTV.
Kelly had revealed in 2018 that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, a personal health battle he shared publicly with his audience.
