Edward Stourton, the veteran broadcaster and journalist best known for presenting BBC Radio 4's Today programme, died on Saturday aged 68 after living with incurable prostate cancer.
Stourton was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014 and spent the years since continuing his work in broadcasting despite the illness. He presented the Today programme for a decade beginning in 1999, becoming one of the most recognisable voices on British radio.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1957, Stourton built a long career in broadcast journalism. He was a founding member of the Channel 4 News team in 1982, helping to launch the flagship evening bulletin before his later move to radio. His death was confirmed on Monday across British media.
