At least 437 civilians were killed and 2,610 wounded in Ukraine in July, the highest monthly death toll since May 2022, according to the United Nations human rights monitoring mission.
The casualties represent a 30 percent increase compared with June and a 70 percent rise from July 2025, driven by intensified hostilities across the country. Danielle Bell, who leads the UN's human rights monitoring in Ukraine, oversaw the latest findings. The UN has now verified 16,874 civilian deaths since Russia's full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022.
The surge in casualties coincided with Russia launching a record number of missiles at Ukraine during the month, according to an analysis by AFP.
