Two people escaped uninjured Monday evening when a small aircraft made a controlled emergency landing in a field on the island of Vestvågøy in northern Norway after the pilot lost engine power mid-flight.
The plane flipped onto its roof during the landing, sustaining material damage. Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly before 21:00 local time, and police reached the aircraft at 20:54. Both occupants were examined by medical personnel and found unhurt, though shaken. The pilot had reported the incident to authorities himself.
Police praised the pilot's quick thinking in handling the engine failure. Norway's Accident Investigation Board has been notified and fire crews were dispatched to secure the aircraft. The cause of the engine failure remains under investigation.
