A man in his 30s has died after falling from a cliff more than 10 metres high in Kalvåg, a coastal village in Bremanger municipality in western Norway's Vestland county, police said.
The man was reported missing at 05:10 on Sunday after friends lost contact with him following a party where he had last been seen between 01:00 and 02:00. Police described him as intoxicated. A search involving police, fire services, health crews and a rescue helicopter was launched, and he was found by family and friends at the base of the cliff. Medical personnel attempted first aid, but a doctor pronounced him dead at the scene.
There were no witnesses to the fall itself. Police have opened an investigation and said early findings point to an accident. An autopsy is planned.
