Irish police have arrested two men and seized suspected cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of €8.5 million following coordinated searches across counties Meath and Louth. The men, aged in their 30s and 40s, are detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a garda station in the eastern region.

The operation began when gardaí intervened with a vehicle in Co Meath as part of an intelligence-led probe. Subsequent searches at multiple locations uncovered the suspected drugs, which have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

The seizure was conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau under Operation Tara, the national anti-drug initiative launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021.
