Authorities have seized more than 2.6 tonnes of cocaine in the Atlantic Ocean off Portugal's coast, intercepting a high-speed rigid inflatable go-fast boat in a joint operation coordinated by the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office of Brescia. Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian agencies collaborated on the bust.
Four suspects were arrested: two Spanish nationals, a British citizen from Gibraltar, and an Albanian national residing in Italy. The shipment's wholesale value is estimated at roughly 78 million euros, with potential street-level revenues reaching around 500 million euros, or 3.75 billion Danish kroner.
The seizure marks one of the largest cocaine hauls intercepted in European waters this year.
