Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company delivered a second-quarter net income of NT$706.56 billion, beating analyst expectations and marking a fifth consecutive quarter of record profit, after the chipmaker reported revenue figures earlier this month.
Gross margin came in at 67.7%, above forecasts, while earnings per share surged 77.4% year on year to NT$27.25. Advanced nodes proved dominant, with 3-nanometer and 5-nanometer processes together accounting for 63% of wafer sales, and advanced technologies at 7nm and below representing 77% of total wafer revenue.
AI processors now contribute roughly a quarter of total revenue, up from just 6% in late 2023. Shares rose 1.23% following the results.
