Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company reported a record second-quarter revenue of T$1.27 trillion ($39.62 billion), a 36% increase from a year earlier, topping its own forecast range of $39 billion to $40.2 billion.
The chipmaker's June sales jumped 67.9% year-on-year to NT$442.68 billion, capping a first half in which total revenue reached NT$2.4 trillion, up 35.6%. Shares closed up 1% on July 13 as investors digested the figures ahead of the full earnings report scheduled for July 16.
TSMC continues to expand capacity, with plans to add two advanced chip packaging plants in Chiayi Science Park, the first of which is already in mass production.
