Runner-up Argentina earns $34 million, while England and France took home $30 million and $28 million for third and fourth place, respectively. FIFA structured payouts so that each of the 48 teams received at least $12.5 million, with squads eliminated in the round of 16, such as Portugal, collecting $15 million. Teams placed fifth through eighth earned $20 million each.
The governing body had initially announced a £727 million purse before approving increases to participation and preparation fees in April. Each federation received a base $10 million for qualifying plus $2.5 million for preparation costs.
