Dani Olmo accuses Argentina coach Roberto Ayala of lying about World Cup final altercation

· Sports ESPARG

Spain midfielder Dani Olmo has accused Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala of lying about a physical altercation following the World Cup final, in which Olmo was seen being punched in the neck area by Ayala. Ayala justified the aggression as a response to a remark, a claim Olmo has flatly rejected.

The dispute is part of a wider FIFA investigation into the conduct of Argentina players and coaches after the 1-0 final in New Jersey eight days ago. Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes shoved and kicked Spain's Gavi and Eric Garcia after the final whistle, having earlier grabbed Gavi by the shirt, struck him in the face and pushed him to the ground.

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente sharply criticised the behaviour of the Argentine camp in the aftermath of the match.
