Prince Harry has stepped down from the board of African Parks, the conservation charity he was associated with for nearly a decade, following admissions of human rights abuses by its rangers in the Republic of the Congo in 2025.
The Duke of Sussex served as the organization's president for six years before joining its board in 2023. His departure follows a public call from Survival International urging him to leave the post. African Parks, which manages more than 20 million hectares in partnership with 13 African governments, said it improved safeguarding processes in 2025 following the abuse revelations.
Harry's conservation work with the charity included helping relocate hundreds of elephants in Malawi in 2016 as part of the 500 Elephants project. The exit comes as the Sussexes prepare to relocate to the UK with their children.
