British Prime Minister Andy Burnham declared the security arrangements for Prince Harry and Meghan a "private matter" as the couple prepares to relocate from the United States to a private, non-royal residence outside London later this month.
Burnham, questioned in Bradford on Wednesday about the family's return, wished the couple well ahead of the move. Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, are enrolled to begin at a British school in September. King Charles was informed of the relocation on Sunday.
Prince Harry, who lost automatic police protection when he stepped back from royal duties in 2020, has waged a protracted legal battle with the Home Office over security provisions and lost a challenge last year over the level of protection his family is entitled to while in Britain. There are no current plans for either Harry or Meghan to resume working royal roles.
