Luís Represas, the Lisbon-born singer and songwriter who fronted the influential Portuguese rock band Trovante, died on Wednesday at age 69 following a prolonged illness, his agency confirmed.
Represas had been marking 50 years in music in 2026, a career that began when he co-founded Trovante in the summer of 1976. The band reunited for concerts in Lisbon and Porto last year, and Represas had shows scheduled at both cities' Coliseums for 2027.
His passing was first reported by Expresso and later confirmed by Rádio Renascença. Represas remained one of Portugal's most recognizable voices across five decades of recording and performance.
