More than 2,100 people remain displaced in Pozzuoli following the July 31 earthquake, with the Italian government approving €100 million to repair or rebuild uninhabitable homes, authorities said Saturday.
The total number of displaced residents stands at 2,129, including 813 families forced from 198 buildings, according to updated figures. Most have found temporary shelter with relatives or friends, while 106 people are staying in hotels and 65 remain at the Palatrincone facility.
Firefighters have completed more than 1,200 safety inspections across Pozzuoli, with 37 teams still deployed. Mayor Luigi Manzoni said he requested financial police oversight to prevent rent speculation, as local priests and Caritas issued appeals to landlords. The Flavian Amphitheatre and Aragonese Castle have reopened with limited access.
