Off-duty officer detains man after knife attack on three women in Paris

· Society FRA

An off-duty police officer detained a man who stabbed three women with two kitchen knives in northern Paris on Monday, wounding two of them seriously.

The attack occurred at about 11:30 a.m. near the Porte de Clichy station, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said. The victims, aged 19, 24 and 36, were all taken to hospital, where two were listed with grave injuries — one to the abdomen and another to the lower back — though neither was considered in life-threatening condition.

The suspect's identity and motive were not immediately clear. Nuñez said the man had made incoherent statements following his arrest.
