Two Greek-American tourists were stabbed and injured on Tuesday morning near the Acropolis Museum entrance in Athens, police said.
The victims, a man and a woman, were attacked with a knife around 8 a.m. while waiting at the ticket office, according to reports. The woman suffered a hand wound and minor leg injuries, while the man sustained a severe arm injury and was rushed to hospital. Both victims were taken by ambulance for treatment.
The suspect, believed to be in his mid-to-late 50s, was detained at the scene. Police indicated the attacker appeared to be suffering from psychological problems. Authorities have not released the suspect's identity or confirmed a motive beyond the suspected mental health issues.
