Milan prosecutors have served notice concluding their investigation into former Italian minister Daniela Santanchè and 15 others, clearing the way for potential trial on charges of bankruptcy, false accounting, and aggravated fraud against the state.
The charges stem from the collapses of four companies — Ki Group, Ki Group Holding, Bioera, and Umbria srl. Among those implicated are Santanchè's sister Fiorella Garnero and her former partner Giovanni Canio Mazzaro, along with one corporate entity. Prosecutors Luigi Luzi and Guido Schininà allege some suspects received wrongful dividends and compensation during the period under review.
Separately, the Italian Senate has recognised the non-accountability of opinions Santanchè expressed in the chamber, denying authorisation to proceed on a defamation charge.
