Rai suspends Report reruns as Ranucci denies Lavitola influence claims

· Politics ITA

Italy's public broadcaster Rai has suspended summer reruns of the investigative programme Report while it seeks clarity on a controversy involving its host, Sigfrido Ranucci, and an alleged attack he suffered in October 2025. The new season is slated to return in November 2026.

The suspension follows a formal complaint filed by the right-wing Fratelli d'Italia party, which asked prosecutors to examine Ranucci's relationship with Valter Lavitola and Lavitola's alleged dealings in renewable energy in the Lazio region. Ranucci has denied the existence of any Report investigation into wind power conditioned by Lavitola, calling the complaint's premises incorrect.

In a show of solidarity, Report's newsroom urged viewers to stream the suspended investigation on RaiPlay on the evening of 12 July and share images under the hashtag #giulemanidareport.
