Marius Borg Høiby will oppose any extension of his electronic monitoring as his current custody order expires on Monday, according to his legal position. Norwegian police have not yet made a final decision on whether to seek an extension and are conducting further inquiries ahead of the deadline.
The 29-year-old has been under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor at Skaugum since mid-July. He could potentially be released as early as Friday if police decline to extend the order.
Høiby was sentenced in June to prison for rape and domestic abuse, though the prosecution is appealing for a harsher sentence. Høiby has also appealed the conviction, with a new court hearing expected in 2027.
