Norwegian prosecutors have requested a further four weeks of pre-trial detention for Marius Borg Høiby, citing a persistent risk of reoffending that they argue makes his release inadvisable. A court is set to rule on the extension on 13 July 2026; without a new order, the 29-year-old would be freed.
Høiby was sentenced to four years in prison by the Oslo District Court on 15 June 2026 for offences including two counts of rape and domestic violence. He was acquitted of two additional rape charges. The court has twice authorised his continued detention in the weeks following the verdict.
Høiby has appealed the conviction, and both sides have challenged the ruling, with an appellate hearing expected next year. He has remained in custody since the original sentence over concerns about contact with a victim and the possibility of new offences.
