A 22-year-old man has died following a knife attack on a public street in Trier on Wednesday morning. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate the victim at the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.
Following the stabbing, which occurred on Robert-Schuman-Allee, the suspect fled the area on foot. After a brief manhunt, police arrested the 22-year-old suspect, an Afghan national, later that morning.
In the aftermath of the incident, authorities cordoned off a wide area around Robert-Schuman-Allee for the ongoing investigation. The police department has also set up an on-site information point on the street to assist local residents.
