A 63-year-old east London man has been convicted of harassing Labour MP Stella Creasy after confronting her on a Victoria Line train and recording her on his phone.

Westminster Magistrates' Court heard that Clifford Wilby blocked Creasy from exiting the carriage between Walthamstow Central and Finsbury Park on 15 July 2025, berating her about knife crime and what he called her failings as a lawmaker before bystanders stepped in. Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram found Wilby guilty of using threatening, abusive, or insulting behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress and adjourned sentencing until 8 September pending pre-sentence reports.

Prosecutor Sarah Madden told the court that Wilby and Creasy had previously crossed paths during a 2024 Zoom meeting held in her capacity as the MP for Walthamstow, a session that was cut short because of his conduct.
