Simon Levy, a 40-year-old serial sex offender from north London, was convicted on Friday at the Old Bailey of murdering Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in March 2025 and Sheryl Wilkins that August, both in sexually motivated attacks. He was also found guilty of raping and severely assaulting a third woman in January 2025. Sentencing has been adjourned to 12 August.
Levy committed all three attacks while on bail and subject to police monitoring. The British Transport Police admitted that delays in organising an identification parade after his November 2024 arrest for sexual assaults on trains left him free to offend. The Crown Prosecution Service acknowledged errors at three court hearings in 2025 that failed to remand him in custody.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating two Metropolitan Police officers over alleged failures in managing Levy from his first conviction in 2021 through to his arrest in September 2025.
