Man arrested after axe attack leaves victim seriously injured in Aalborg

A 37-year-old man has been arrested following an axe attack in Aalborg, Denmark, that left a 40-year-old man with a deep gash to the back of the head and a shoulder injury after sustaining up to eight blows. The victim is not in life-threatening condition.

The assault occurred at 12:20 p.m. on Thursday on Metavej. The two men knew each other prior to the incident. Police received a second report at 1:36 p.m. concerning a man matching the suspect's description near a nearby Kvickly supermarket, where the arrest was made.

The suspect is due to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Friday morning, July 24. Police have not disclosed a possible motive.
