A 48-year-old man has confessed to killing a 62-year-old man with a rifle in Nørresundby, Denmark, on July 17, and has been remanded in custody for four weeks following a court hearing.
The shooting unfolded Friday afternoon in an industrial area, where a police officer was struck by gunfire in the torso and one leg. The suspect admitted firing at police but denied any intent to kill. The judge ruled there was reasonable suspicion of aggravated assault against the officer, rather than attempted murder.
North Jutland Police expect to question between 15 and 20 witnesses as part of the investigation. Investigators are examining a burnt-out workshop site and have secured technical evidence for forensic analysis.
