A Danish court has sentenced a 33-year-old man to indefinite confinement at the Sikringen psychiatric facility in Slagelse after finding him guilty of murder, attempted murder, and desecration of a corpse. The Kolding District Court determined the man was legally insane at the time of the offences, meaning he faces no fixed release date.
The attacks took place in the Vejle area in the early hours of 25 November 2024. The man killed a 58-year-old with a crowbar and knife before carving a word into the body, and was also found guilty of indecent handling of a corpse. Approximately an hour later, he attacked a young couple at a second address with the same weapons, but the pair managed to overpower him and hold him until police arrived.
The man had planned the attacks since summer 2024, driven by what he believed were voices commanding him to kill, as well as personal grievances including a belief that the 58-year-old had abused him as a child. He confessed to the charges.
