England defender John Stones has reached a verbal agreement to join Inter Milan on a free transfer, with his representatives set to finalise terms on a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old left Manchester City at the end of June after a decade at the club, during which he made 295 appearances and won six Premier League titles alongside a Champions League trophy. Stones started three matches as England reached the semi-finals at the 2026 World Cup before their exit to Argentina.
Arsenal and Chelsea had registered interest in the centre-back, with Arsenal seeking defensive cover following William Saliba's back injury. Juventus also made contact over the weekend. Inter Milan, the reigning Serie A champions, remain interested in Tottenham captain Cristian Romero and could potentially sign both defenders.
