Chelsea have agreed a club-record £117 million fee with Aston Villa for forward Morgan Rogers, a transfer that sets a new benchmark for an English player and eclipses the £107 million Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez in 2023.
Rogers, currently with England's squad at the 2026 World Cup, is expected to sign a six-year contract with an option for a further 12 months. A medical is scheduled for Monday following the tournament. He featured in all six of England's World Cup matches, including providing the assist for their only goal in the semi-final defeat by Argentina.
The 23-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists across 55 appearances last season as Villa won the Europa League, earning UEFA's Europa League Player of the Season award. Villa had signed Rogers from Middlesbrough in February 2024, with Middlesbrough retaining a 20 percent sell-on clause.
