Israeli airstrike on Gaza police headquarters kills at least nine

An Israeli airstrike on a municipal police headquarters in Gaza City killed at least nine Palestinians and wounded 15 others on Wednesday, medics and the Hamas-led interior ministry said. Among the dead were several officers, including the women's police chief, and a 13-year-old girl who was near the building at the time of the attack, Gaza's interior ministry said. The Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed the toll of nine killed and 15 injured.

In a separate strike earlier Wednesday, one Palestinian was killed in Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, bringing the day's death toll to at least 10.

The violence comes two days after U.S. envoy Jared Kushner ended a regional visit that failed to advance Donald Trump's ceasefire plan. More than 1,250 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers have been killed since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire took effect last October.
